The purposes of the Compton Heights Neighborhood Betterment Association (CHNBA) are to:
- Improve the quality of life in the community through neighborhood improvement and beautification
- Promote the City of St. Louis as a desirable place to live
- Assist in creating community cohesiveness
- Support various charitable organizations
Members of the CHNBA attend semi-annual membership meetings, vote on policy and action plans for Compton Heights, volunteer on various committees and have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors.
Your membership and contributions are used to help showcase and maintain our beautiful, historic neighborhood. Please consider becoming a member if you are not already one – every dollar counts! Dues go towards the following expenses:
- Insurance on our Community Property (Grand Point and Geyer Lots)
- Maintenance of Properties (mowing, trimming, salting of intersections, etc)
- Maintenance of Signs, Sign posts, Gates, Entrances, Pillars, Community Sidewalks, etc.
- Charitable Donations–required by 501 (3) Status
- Newsletters (printing, paper, set-up)
- New Neighbor Welcome Events
- Easter Parade and Egg Hunt, Halloween and Oktoberfest Events
- Postage and PO Box Rental
- Tax Return Preparation for Association
- 501 (3) Annual Registration
- This Website
Membership is open to all residents (and nonresident property owners) of Compton Heights. Any person not a resident may become a "Friend" of Compton Heights upon meeting conditions of eligibility established from time to time by the Corporation. (Section 3.3 of Bylaws)
